Expertly designed specifically for SteelFreak tapered and rectangular fireplace grates, our Super Duty Ember Retainer provides unparalleled durability with its custom-fit and super heavy duty 1/4 inch plate construction. Thanks to the strategically placed one inch holes, this ember retainer keeps the hot coals close to the logs for longer. This helps the firewood burn more completely while still allowing for proper airflow.

PLEASE NOTE: The sizing listed here is NOT the size of the ember retainer itself; rather, it is the nominal size of the grate that each retainer is designed to fit. The actual dimensions of the ember retainer itself will be much smaller as it is sized to fit the burn area of the grate, which is smaller than the overall size of the grate.

These items are compatible with SteelFreak FGT and FGR model tapered and rectangular grates. If your SteelFreak tapered or rectangular grate is 14 inches deep overall, these ember retainers should fit. They will not fit SteelFreak SG model rectangular stove grates.

Please also note that ember retainers are a wear item. Although ours are many times more durable than our competitors' ember retainers made from thin expanded metal, they are still designed to be replaced if and when they wear out.

All ember retainers over 18 inches in width will come as two separate interlocking pieces, saving upwards of $30 on shipping costs.
